dough, glaze, amen.

saturday morning found us wandering down country roads
in search of the best donuts in town
{or out-of-town, i suppose}.
when i asked one of andy's coworkers & his wife
what they will miss most about ol' clarksville/tennessee
{they moved to DC last week},
they, without a second of hesitation,
mentioned donuts made at a small bakery on the outskirts of town.

the outskirts of town around here will put you
in kentucky, passing bucolic green fields and small farms.
the surrounding amish and mennonite communities make you feel
like you've stepped into a different world.

so did they live up to the recommendation?
umm...YES.
see you next weekend, kentucky.

{"babe! i just took a big bite!" smile}

added bonuses:
* 1/2 dozen of the glazed treats for $1.95!
* a sweet farmer and his farm stand located en route
* a fabulous "country pantry" store run by mennonites also en route
{as andy said, "this is a true 'whole foods'"...bags and bags of whole grains, nuts, fruits,
eco-friendly/organic products, etc. heaven!}
* an excuse to eat donuts every saturday until we move.
have to soak up the local culture, right?!
