6 months.

dear andy,

   a few weeks ago you told me that when you're able to access google reader, you always look to see if i've posted something new...so i thought i'd say hi via this little blogola. hi! how are you?! are you feeling better today? i hope the hours have passed quickly.

      do you know what today is, love? 

today is exactly 6 months since you left. 

the halfway mark of this deployment!

i can't believe it's been six months since this picture was taken. like you said before, we have some pretty big smiles considering the heartbreak that was looming a couple of hours after it was taken. i'll never forget driving away after saying goodbye, watching you stand there waving as dusk settled in around you. we'd all said our goodbyes a little removed from everyone else and it almost seemed like we were leaving you all alone, perhaps just dropping you off at work....but your wave was so sad, and your mom reached back from the front seat and clutched my hand.

i remember hating how perfect that night was. it smelled like summer and the cicadas were buzzing. i resented the fact that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the summer together and i couldn't just take a walk with you on a night like that whenever we wanted. now two seasons have come and gone since you've left...and sometimes i still can't believe that i haven't seen your face for half of a year.

these have been the most difficult six months of our lives, but this morning i managed to do a little bedroom-solo-dance when i woke up; i couldn't help but feel happy and, more than anything, immensely proud...of us, of you, and this big, bursting love of ours.

the next 6 have nothing on us.
